Tony Ross
Tony Ross is our new resident bicycle mechanic.
In addition to working in the bicycle industry for over 14 years as a mechanic and shop manager he’s also taught repair and touring classes. Tony’s idea of a vacation is acting as a race mechanic and/or crew chief for Race Across America semi-annually where he has helped multiple teams and solo riders across the finish line of the 3000 mile journey.
Tony’s motto: “We have brains to solve our problems and hands to do the work, but we also have hearts and it’s important to use them.”
Event Detials
One in a series of Jack’s Bicycle Maintenance Workshops, participants will go over each part of what makes up a bicycle wheel and the different types, sizes, styles and the associated diciplines/uses of them. This is not a wheel building class.
Included: Rims, old and current and how to tell your size.
Spoke and nipple systems, spoke tension. An explanation of hubs, cones, axles, thru-axles, quick release skewers, bearings, widths and sizes.
Tires (treads, sidewalls, materials, uses, advantages and trade offs) Different measurements and sizes, and a flat fix hands on demo and a how to on patching a tube. Also an education on tubeless technology.
